Introduction to Algonquin Language Classes
Danka Brewer’s classes are held on-line during Covid and take place on Tuesday evenings 5:30-7:00pm. Everyone is welcome. There is no charge for the classes but a seasonal donation is requested ($50 recommended). The next set of classes start in January 2022 but all are welcome to join at any time. Lanark Drum Circle
The Lanark Drum Circle is gathering on-line during Covid and meets every Sunday afternoon at 1pm.
The Lanark Drum Circle is a group of people from different directions on the medicine wheel. All are welcomed: young, old, any gender or race. The traditional First Nations songs are an interpretation of their spirituality and are of great significance. They honour, celebrate and teach on their relationship with all life on Mother Earth and beyond. Even though some of the songs will only have vocables, there is always an intention for each song equivalent to a prayer. When gathering, we acknowledge what is being interpreted and enjoy the rhythms and heartbeat of Mother Earth. They invite you to join in the circle with an open heart and without judgment, as we are all one in the circle. No experience necessary.

Since 2013 Metis artist Colleen Gray has collected and shipped art supplies to remote northern Indigenous communities across Canada. The next campaign for collecting art supplies will take place in 2021; meantime you can show your support by making a donation or purchasing her art at the Art for Aid store as money for shipping is always needed.

The Circle of Turtle Lodge is an Indigenous led organization: “It has been said that there can be no culture without language, but we say that there can be a great deal of culture revived even without language. We have been providing Cultural Education for over 20 years. Lately, we have been working on a Language project. We’ve also been collecting Songs for Ceremony.
